Brazilian Cherry wood (Hymenaea courbaril) has a very dense hard texture with interlaced grain. Its rich colour varies, before maturation, from yellowish brown through salmon red to dark red streaked with black. Its colour change is rapid and pronounced, becoming a sought-after deep reddish brown. The wood has a Janka hardness rating of 2350.
